Five Minute Door Hanger!

I've never met a craft store I didn't like.

On Saturday, I seized the opportunity to drag my family to both Hobby Lobby and Michaels after a run to Jungle Jim's (aka Best Grocery Store Ever) to fill up my husband's growlers. I've been wanting to change up my front door decor by adding a bouquet-style hanger, but I've had a really tough time finding anything I liked. Until Saturday at Hobby Lobby :)

For just shy of $20 I was able to create this fun and foolproof door decoration perfect for late winter (hello Valentine's Day!). It required nothing more than a few supplies and a pair of scissors.
Love.

Michael's was running a 50% off sale on all floral stems, so I took full advantage! Hobby Lobby had the same sale but not as fantastic a selection... I fought the urge to buy MORE hydrangeas, opting instead for these pretty red and white blooms. I used a 40% off coupon for the holder at Hobby Lobby, bringing the price down to a whopping $8.
I was also able to use a 40% off coupon at Michaels for the ribbon...
I shoved a few empty plastic bags into the bottom of the holder then stuck the floral stems in one at a time. I looped the burlap ribbon through the keyhole on the back of the holder and was almost finished!
I had this upside-down 3M hook on the inside of my door from my Christmas door decoration, so I just left it up, tying the burlap ribbon around it twice to secure it.
My husband found some felt tabs that we use to keep our furniture from scratching up the wood floors and stuck them on the back of the holder to keep it from banging against the door.
Thankfully our door knocker is magnetic and easily removable. I popped it onto a shelf in the coat closet and secured the new bouquet snugly against the door.

Here's the finished product!
I love the way it looks with my other recent (and totally spur-of-the-moment craft project!) acquisition.
I'm thinking of taking the blue berries and adding them to the hanging door bouquet for a fun and festive decoration in July.... I love that these stems aren't glued in and can be updated super easily to fit with any season!

  6. Love that your door knocker is removable! And I'm the same as you, I live for HL (it's my favorite nowadays). Faux flowers can be SO expensive! You did a great job.

  7. This is SO nice and I love the idea of the velcro on the back of the holder. I hate when they scratch your door! Pinning!
